India end Aussie Record UK Cricket Tickets NEWS
India defeated Australia by 72 runs in the Third Test in Perth to end the hosts’ hopes of winning a record 17 matches in a row. Rahul Dravid (93) and Sachin Tendulkar (71) put on 139 but Brett Lee (3-71) and Mitchell Johnson (4-86) pegged India back to 330 all out in the first innings. Anil Kumble took his 600th Test wicket, to end the century partnership of Andrew Symonds and Adam Gilchrist (55) in Australia’s reply. Symonds was caught at slip for 66 by Rahul Dravid off Kumble, who became the third bowler to reach the landmark after spinners Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan. RP Singh also took 4-68 to dismiss the home side for 212 who then needed 413 to win from the last innings after India hit 294 all out with VVS Laxman the only batsmen to hit a half-century (79). The Indian bowlers all chipped in with wickets to deny Ricky Ponting’s team beating Steve Waugh’s record of 16 straight wins. Ponting (45), Mike Hussey (46) and Michael Clarke (81) all made starts but the Aussies were bowled out for 340 with Johnson finishing on 50*, his highest score.

Captain Kumble said afterwards: ‘Considering the fact that no visiting team gets any chance coming into Perth and being 2-0 down, it was a great effort and a brilliant win. This is at the top. Whatever victories I've been involved in home and away, this ranks as one of the best.’ Ponting mused: ‘We will train harder than India in the next few days, and it is up to us to show what this team is made of. Australian teams historically have been able to bounce back. We can turn things around pretty quickly.’

Former England Test spinner Miller will be joined in selection panel with England coach Peter Moores and former Test players Ashley Giles and James Whitaker. Graveney stated: ‘While I am naturally disappointed to no longer be directly involved with the England team, I feel that I can play an important part in ensuring that we maintain a consistent flow of world-class talent from the county academies into our international teams at all levels.’ Giles said: ‘I've come out of the dressing room quite recently, and there is a lack of players coming out of that - most go into the media and we lose too many players from the top of the game.’

Saqlain for England? UK Cricket Tickets NEWS
Saqlain Mushtaq has revealed he would play for England if he is asked. The spinner played the last of his 49 Tests for Pakistan in 2004 and following an injury has not been in contention for the team. However, in April the 31-year-old is eligible to play for England as he has a British passport through marriage and has played for Surrey and Sussex for over 10 years. The spinner, who has taken 208 Tests wickets, stated: ‘If they call me, definitely I'll play. I've been discussing with my family and friends and they've all been saying 'Saqqy, if they give you the chance, definitely go for it'… If England needs you and asks you and you can't play with that passion, that's wrong. If I'm playing for a national team, for a country, I don't want to lose.’

Forfeit to be Overturned UK Cricket Tickets NEWS
The only forfeited Test in history could be overturned following appeals by the Pakistan Cricket Board. They want the result against England at the Oval Test in 2006 to be changed to match ‘abandoned’ or ‘drawn’. The team refused to return to the field after umpire Darrell Hair accused them of ball-tampering. A PCB source stated: ‘We have made the application to the ICC and hope for a favourable result at the next cricket committee meeting in May. The good thing is that England supported our plea and the matter has been discussed at the executive board meeting of the ICC.’

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has instructed its players to suspend their tour of Australia after a three-match ban was given to Harbhajan Singh. In response to the International Cricket Council ruling, the BCCI stated: “The Indian Board realises the game of cricket is paramount but so too is the honour of the Indian team and for that matter every Indian. To vindicate its position, the board will fight the blatantly false and unfair slur on an Indian player."

Australia will hosts floodlit Test matches within the next two years. Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland said: "We don't see any reason why we can't be at least trialling some day-night Test cricket, not necessarily all of them, before the end of the decade. It makes sense to me that the game becomes more appealing by virtue of it being played at an hour where more people can come and watch and more people can watch it on TV… My anecdotal suggestions there would be audiences something like four times what they currently are for Test cricket." However Australia captain Ricky Ponting was not so keen and remarked: "They played a lot in Perth, they played a lot in Brisbane, and by all accounts they were a nightmare for all the batsmen."
